Description:

It should come to no surprise that the Devil is probably the most unpleasant of all the chapters written in this book. They are cunning, manipulative, deceptive and of course lack any regard for other people’s lives and are completely without empathy – they are the very opposite to the angel (see page.) The devil has many similarities to the Leech, and both can in fact show psychopathic tendencies or even be a psychopath, however, their differences lie within how they carry themselves and how successful they are in life. The devil is usually very intelligent and very successful. This is also why they are often found in jobs of authority as they are good at making decisions with no implications of their feelings. While they may be very intelligent and successful though, they should never be trusted as they act purely and only for their own gain.

It is tempting to think that all devils are murderers, yet they are not – While some devils may very well be, others may be rapists, big thieves and general criminals, but others are none of those things and simply just act from what they desire. This is the key thing – Whatever the devil desires are what they will go for and what they will get, they never let anything stand in their way of what they want, and they truly believe they deserve to have it regardless of how dark and twisted their desires may be. You may meet a surgeon for example who is a devil (Not all surgeons are of course!) in which they desire the success, the wealth and respect amongst others but will never actually care about the person that they are operating on or show any sense of empathy towards their feelings – This is why you may sometimes come across some very insensitive individuals that may leave you in disbelief from their lack of empathy.

So, to sum it up. The devil is an individual who does not have any empathy. They are usually very successful in life and what they are capable of doing completely depends on what their desires are in life meaning not all of them are criminals but some of them can indeed commit unspeakable crimes.

What do they look like:

The devil takes great care in their own appearance and will most certainly be well groomed and more than likely they will be physically fit for their age. They will always be wearing their proper working attire and take great pleasure in showing off their assets which could be an expensive watch, a fancy car or other superficial things in their lives.

How to spot them:

Unless you are just incredibly good at reading people – and I know some of you are, the Devil is not always easy to spot right away but there are things to look out for.

I would almost say there are two types of Devils, the one who wants to be seen, who is charismatic, charming and enjoy being in the spotlight – and then there is the covert Devil, who becomes more of an observer from afar, manipulating from the shadows and thinking of themselves as intellectually superior. All Devils enjoys the belief that they are better than all others. Either you are openly beneath them or if you have something of value to offer, they will take pride thinking themselves clever enough to manipulate you for it with charm, fear, or any means necessary.

So, either look out for someone who is overly nice to you straight away, while I know it is easy to be charmed, as I once was, they will generally evolve the conversation around them and not of you. Someone who is genuine and authentic will ask questions of you – the Devil, (among others such as the Leech see page.) will make everything about them. They demand the attention, admiration and respect.

How were they made:

It is believed that the devil could both be made from the brain wired differently from birth, but a devil can also be the outcome of the environment they have grown up in. Such as a physical abusive relationship, an environment where toxic behaviour or drug addicted behaviour is prominent as well as an unstable and loveless environment. There is no certain box in which you can say this upbringing will create a devil, but it is almost certain that a loving and stable environment will be far less likely to have created one.

Their Weakness:

While I am tempted to write about their egocentric beliefs because they are certainly arrogant enough to see no fault in themselves, which never encourages any growth and is of course a weakness, I am instead going to point out that their lack of empathy is their weakness. The fact that they can not feel empathy towards others or care for anyone but themselves means that they will most likely lead an incredibly lonely life in which they will never discover what true love even means. This to me, is their absolute biggest weakness as love is one of the most beautiful gifts we can ever be given.

Their Strengths:

Their confidence and their intelligence are their strength, and it is why they often become very successful in life. Because they lead life with almost no emotion, they can navigate into positions that requires authority where they thrive. They are good at telling others what to do, they usually don’t have long lasting relationships so are able to focus much more of their attention and time towards working hours and as they thrive being seen as the best, they will pursue these goals to become the actual best at what they do.

How do they feel:

Because of their confidence and usually high intelligence, the devil can in fact be incredibly charming on surface matters. You can have a deep conversation with the devil and if you are feeding into their ego and status, they will most likely feel very warm and friendly towards you. If you, however, don’t feed into their ego but instead challenge them, dispute or disagree with them you may witness their façade go cold and a glimpse of their true identity might start to shine through.

What they make you feel like:

Have you ever been around someone who said something so cold that it sent chills down your spine? Then you might have met a Devil. If you ever get to know a Devil - beyond the surface level at a party where they camouflage behind their charisma - I mean if you actually get to talk a bit more with them, working with them, having one in the family or even briefly being in a relationship with them. You will realise that they will never make you feel good. You will feel gaslight, you will feel belittled, they will lie to you, and they will make you start to question your own sanity if you are not careful.

The devil is also the ones who are capable of much harder crimes, while as mentioned before – not all have the desire to do so, but there are those who will take pleasure in physically abusing their partner, raping, stealing from you and even murder so always ensure you distance yourself when you meet a Devil for your own safety.

What to learn:

There is a common saying that mistakes are what we learn from. Devils – are who we learn to fear, they are all things evil and the reason we teach out daughters not to walk home alone by night. In a perfect world, we would all love to live in a safer place where this threat didn’t exist but in the same way that we have good, we have love – it is balanced by also having the bad. I would go so far as to say, that someone who has survived being around the Devil or a Devil’s attack as you will read in the story in this same chapter – They will have built a resilience, strength and learn to be grateful for the beautiful things coming towards them because they have seen darkness and stared it in its eye. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger – has become a very well-known quote for good reasons. I will elaborate on the meaning of Fear on page.

How to treat them:

If you feel you have met the devil in your life, be incredibly cautious. They are masters at manipulation and lying and if your cross them they will most certainly do their best to get back at you. One of the biggest misconceptions many have is that love, empathy and understanding can change a devil from the darkness into the light, a heroic stance for sure. I was once convinced it would be possible, however I have come to learn no one can change a true Devils heart and their lack of ability to empathise. So, the best way to be around the devil is to observe them from a distance without having your own emotions challenge them to conflict. Never try to create a reaction from a Devil, it will never end well as they will always have the advantage of not having any empathy. They will lie, manipulate, gaslight and threaten you until they get what they want which is an unfair playing field if you are someone who does have compassion. They are capable of far bigger crimes than you ever will so the safest thing to do is to maintain your distance and keep your loved ones safe.

The disguise of the Devil

Just outside of Copenhagen, there is a youth club house hosting a big party for the teens to come together and have fun. It is a large shed looking building filled with loud music, bright colours and smoke on the dance floor – The party has been going for many hours and is close to finishing up. Parents have started gathering in the parking lot outside to pick their children up and many are walking in groups to continue the party elsewhere.

A man and his friend are standing outside as well talking, they are in their late 30’s or early 40’s, well dressed and gazing towards the dancefloor from outside while having their discussion. The taller of the two men is the one who has brought his friend here, this is not the first time they have attended such an event and while he knows his friend may be lacking in intelligence compared to himself, he knows that he needs him to blend in and get help later to complete his plan.

As they are talking, he has caught his eyes on 2 young females still dancing on the dance floor as the party is nearly finishing and while many have already started leaving – they appear a little drunk despite the party being alcohol free, but they don’t appear too wasted to not be able to talk or walk. They both look around the age of 16 but he cannot be certain on their ages, and one is particularly attractive with brown curls and a small skirt.

He gives a nudge to his friend and they both start walking towards the bar where they order a few soft drinks, his friend distracting the bartender as he slips a pill in 2 of the drinks.

Together they walk towards the girls and introduce themselves as workers as the party – They tell the girls that the party is about to finish up and everyone will have to leave soon.

“Are anyone picking you girls up” He asks, while the girls are giggling having their best time.

“No, we don’t want to go, we will just wait for a taxi” one of the girls replies.

Perfect he thinks – He smiles back and offers them both a drink.

“Hey, you girls have been dancing up a storm, you must be thirsty”

Both girls are sweating from their dancing and eagerly grabs hold of the free drinks offered.

Both guys walk away again, towards the car park where they continue their conversation as they watch the party closing for good and everyone leaving the building.

As the 2 girls start walking towards the carpark and waiting in the very long line for a taxi they wave them over.

“Hey, we are just about to head home, we have finished for the night – Do you want a lift somewhere?” The girls are relieved – it was going to take a very long time to get a taxi and as far as they are concerned, these 2 men are here to keep everyone safe and could be their fathers’ friends – Thrilled, they jump into the car unknowing to them that it will be their last memory of the night before their bodies start to give in.

The next morning the girls wake up in separate rooms, both naked. They scramble as they try and find their clothes to leave the building as soon as they can without saying goodbye as they try and remember what happened. Both deeply ashamed and feeling guilt they decide to talk about other things while they work out where they are and how to get a taxi.

The man has no doubt they will never say anything – they are just dumb little girls, who has no idea of what has happened and no proof, he has done this many times now and will probably be doing it again and again – He feels no shame, no guilt or remorse, only satisfaction and an ego boost of getting away with it. He is the Devil.
